The nomination period for the 2026 municipal and school board elections is now underway in Gananoque and will remain open until Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at 2 p.m.
Residents who are eligible to vote may seek office as mayor or councillor if they meet the requirements set out under Ontario’s municipal election rules, including being a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old, and not otherwise disqualified from voting or holding municipal office.
Prospective candidates must file their nomination with the Clerk’s Office by appointment during the nomination period. Nomination fees are $200 for head of council and $100 for councillor.
Required nomination forms and election information are available through the Town’s 2026 Municipal Election webpage and at the Town Hall reception counter.
The Town’s unofficial candidate list as of Wednesday, June 3, showed Colin Brown registered for mayor and Mike O’Callaghan registered for council.
The list remains unofficial and may change as additional nominations are filed and certified by the Clerk at elections@gananoque.ca or Call 613-382-2149 ext. 1120.
