Ontario says it is providing more than $870,000 to support Leeds Grenville Small Business through March 2029 as the region launches the 2026 Starter Company Plus and Summer Company programs.
Steve Clark announced the funding at a June 11 event at the Prescott Town Hall Grand Room, where local officials, mentors and community partners gathered with this year’s participants. Clark said the funding is being provided on behalf of Associate Minister of Small Business Nina Tangri.
The programs support youth and adult entrepreneurs through training, mentorship and grant opportunities. Summer Company participants can receive up to $3,000 to run a business over the summer, while Starter Company Plus participants can receive grants of up to $5,000 after pitching business plans to local business leaders.
Carol Hardy, program manager, said the programs help entrepreneurs build confidence, develop business skills and bring new ideas to life in communities across Leeds and Grenville. Participants come from municipalities including Augusta, Brockville, Elizabethtown-Kitley, North Grenville and Leeds and the Thousand Islands.
