Families in Gananoque have a chance to gear for the hockey season at a free equipment giveaway next month.
Next Shift Hockey Canada is hosting the event on July 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the outdoor rink behind Gord Brown Rink.
Organizers say the initiative is aimed at helping families offset the rising cost of hockey by providing access to free gear.
Attendees can pick up equipment, exchange items for larger sizes, and donate used gear.
Monetary donations are also being accepted. All proceeds and contributions will support local players and Next Shift programs.
The event is sponsored by A Better View Tree Service, which is encouraging community members to come donate, and make sure youth can get in the game.
