The Town of Gananoque is reminding residents to keep grass clippings off municipal roads, sidewalks and pathways following seasonal lawn maintenance activities.
Officials say grass clippings left on roadways can create hazardous, slippery conditions for cyclists and motorcyclists, increasing the risk of accidents. They can also block storm drains and contribute to water quality concerns when washed into local waterways during rain events.
Residents are being encouraged to direct clippings back onto their lawns as natural mulch or collect and dispose of them properly through yard waste systems.
The Town says the reminder is part of ongoing efforts to maintain safe and clean public spaces throughout the community. Officials thank residents for their cooperation in helping to reduce hazards and protect both road users and the environment during the summer season.
