Joel Stone Beach in the Town of Gananoque is still under a Red status as high levels of Ecoli were detected by officials.
According to Southeast Public Health officials, a red swimming advisory is in place and swimming is not recommended. High levels of E.coli bacteria were detected in the most recent water sample results. Swimming may increase your risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose, or throat infections or stomach illness.
Officials say if you choose to swim during a swimming advisory, avoid putting your head under water or swallowing the water. Several local beaches are clear to swim at including Kendrick’s Park in the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands.
