A unique summer tradition in the Thousand Islands continues this weekend as Historic Half Moon Bay hosts its weekly outdoor worship service on Sunday, July 12.
The service begins at 4 p.m. at the historic waterfront site, located on Half Moon Bay near Gananoque. Visitors can take a boat shuttle from the west end of Water Street between 3:30 and 3:30 p.m. Organizers say everyone is welcome to attend the non-denominational gathering.
This Sunday’s guest minister is Jeff McArn of the United Methodist Church in Grindstone Island, New York.
The seasonal services celebrate a tradition dating back to 1887 and are held each Sunday through August 9.
Half Moon Bay is known for its distinctive natural rock formation, often described as having the tallest cathedral ceiling in the region.
