After several special events and even a bout with Mother Nature, the 2026 season at the Can Am Speedway in Lafargeville New York gets back to regular racing action this Friday and points races are getting close, while drivers in other divisions are starting to put some distance between themselves and the rest of the competition.
Just 8 points separate the top two drivers in the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modified division. Four-time track champion Tim Fuller leads the way over defending track champion Billy Dunn. The defending champion leads the way in the win column with his historic third win of the season and 73rd of his Can Am career back in June. Dunn is still seeking that record breaking 74th win to break the tie with Hall of Famer Pat O’Brien. Fuller is looking to get back to victory lane and has momentum on his side, with a Super DIRTCar Series win at Land of Legends on July 2nd. Rounding out the top 5 is Lance Willix in third just 48 points back and still seeking his first in of the year with Jackson Gill 4th, one point ahead of Shaun Shaw, who is 54 markers behind Fuller. Both Gill and Shaw are still seeking that first trip to victory lane in 2026.
The Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman division is very close with just 4 points separating leader Tyler Stevenson and 2nd place Gavin Eisele. Both drivers are enjoying a great season with a pair of wins each, while Eisele, the reigning champion also has three wins this year at Brockville, his Saturday night home. Eric Nier is right in the battle as well. After ending a two year winless drought, the Carthage native is just 24 behind Stevenson in the chase for his first track title. Fourth in points is Jessica Power out of Kingston Ontario, who’s used consistency to stay in the title hunt, but will need a trip to victory lane to close the 40 point gap between her and Stevenson. Richard Murtaugh who won four times at Can Am last year and has one win this season, completes the top 5, 54 behind, with many races left to make up some valuable points.
With four wins in the Panther Frameworx Crate Sprints in 2026, four time and defending track champion Josh Verne Jr. is the driver to beat once again, with a comfortable 42 point lead over Andrew Hennessy, who has been to victory lane twice this year. Ken Klinkowsky has had the best season of his career in the division since 2022. The Fulton driver won his first career feature on May 15th, the divisions 50th event held and sits third I the title chase, 44 points behind Verne. Rounding out the top five is Adam Turner competing in his first full time season at Can-Am. The Cherry Valley Ontario driver has been close several times getting to victory lane and sits 78 behind in 4th. Tucker Donath is looking to end a long winless drought in the division, which dates back to August 16th of 2024. The Palermo driver current sits fifth in the title chase.
One driver has owned the Sundance Leisure Thundercar division in 2026 and that’s Jock Symonds. The Lafargeville driver has 6 wins in 7 tries in 2026, with his worst finish being a second place effort back on May 1st. Symonds holds a 66 point lead over Jared Gilson, who has had great runs this year and is still looking for his first win of the season. Collin Bauter sits third in the standings, while David Rasmussen and Colby Hibbard complete the top 5.
The Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman division has seen one of the youngest drivers in track history make his mark in the division in 2026. Lafargeville’s Mason Rogers, at just 12 years old, has four wins on the year and currently sits third in the divisions all time win list with 8 trips to victory lane. With three more wins Rogers will hold the all time record, which is held by Paul DeRuyter, who has 10 wins. Mike Durham has shown he can wheel a Sportsman car over the last year and a half. Durham has two wins on the season after several trips to victory lane in the Thundercar ranks. Durham will seek win number three Friday night. Other winners on the year include Stephen Bushey, who won on May 29th, while Cayden Graham score his first career win on June 19th, the last time the division raced this season.
