The president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 92 in Gananoque has been recognized with the organization’s highest honour for distinguished service.
According to a recent article by Gananoque/TLTI Junction, Bob Howard recently received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Legion’s most prestigious award recognizing exceptional dedication, leadership, and service beyond the ordinary. Gananoque Mayor John Beddows presented the medal during a ceremony on June 9.
Howard has been a member of Branch 92 since 2001 and has served as branch president since 2021. Over the years, he has held numerous leadership roles, organized the Legion’s popular monthly brunches, supported veterans, community events, and the annual Poppy Campaign.
He also introduced a program providing free brunch tickets to families in need and helped fund donations to the Gananoque Soup Kitchen.
Dominion Command approved the award on May 29, recognizing Howard’s decades of volunteer service to the Legion and the community.
