Swimming is not recommended at Joel Stone Beach after elevated E. coli levels were detected in the water.
The Town of Gananoque says the Southeast Public Health Unit has identified higher-than-acceptable levels of E. coli at the popular waterfront beach. As a result, the beach has been placed under Red Status, indicating the water is unsafe for swimming.
The advisory will remain in place until further notice. Residents and visitors are urged to avoid swimming at Joel Stone Beach until testing confirms the water is safe and the advisory is lifted.
