It’s Growing Up On The Farm; local families building the future of agriculture — one generation at a time…fueled by Kubota.
Today we are looking at Horton Homestead Farm in Lansdowne…presented by Kevcon Construction Incorporated
For George Horton, farming has always been more than a job — it’s a way of life rooted in generations of family tradition.
Horton grew up working alongside his father on the family farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a passion for agriculture at an early age. Today, he and his wife, Linda, operate Horton Homestead Farm, a successful maple syrup operation in Lansdowne that continues a family farming legacy spanning eight generations.
Horton says one of the things he enjoyed most growing up was working with his father and learning the many skills that come with life on the farm. Beyond planting, harvesting and maintaining equipment, he says farming teaches people how to solve problems, manage several responsibilities at once, and work with others.
He also believes the values learned through farming have helped shape both his personal and professional life.
Looking back, Horton says he’s proud of what his family has built over the years and is excited about the future of the farm. He encourages young people to experience agriculture firsthand, saying the lessons learned on a farm can last a lifetime.
