The Yellow Heat Warning remains in effect for Gananoque and the Thousand Islands as hot and humid conditions continue across the region.
Environment Canada says temperatures are expected to reach 30 to 37 degrees Celsius, with overnight lows between 20 and 25 degrees and humidex values between 38 and 45.
Today is expected to bring the peak of the heat event, with some areas reaching near 37 degrees this afternoon.
Residents are reminded to take precautions during the extreme heat, including drinking plenty of water, limiting strenuous outdoor activity, and checking on older adults, people living alone, and others at higher risk.
The hot and humid weather may also contribute to reduced air quality.
