Cataraqui Conservation has extended its Shoreline Conditions Statement for Lake Ontario and the upper St. Lawrence River as water levels remain above typical summer levels.
The agency says lake levels are expected to stay relatively stable or continue a slow decline in the coming weeks. However, higher levels remain possible if wetter-than-average weather and water supply conditions return.
The average Lake Ontario water level has dropped two centimetres since July 9 and is currently about two centimetres above the messaging threshold. The water level at Kingston remains well below the 1:100-year flood elevation.
The St. Lawrence River level measured at Brockville is also below the 1:100-year flood elevation.
Cataraqui Conservation says widespread flooding is not expected, but elevated water levels could increase the risk of localized impacts from storm surge and wave action.
The statement will remain in effect until Aug. 14 unless updated earlier.
