A traffic stop in Gananoque has resulted in a release order charge against a 54-year-old Elginburg resident.
Gananoque Police say officers on patrol stopped a vehicle on July 29 after noticing it had a faulty headlight.
During the investigation, officers determined the driver was known to police and was subject to conditions that prohibited them from being within the Town of Gananoque.
The 54-year-old was arrested and charged with failure to comply with a release order.
Police say the accused was held in custody for a show-cause bail hearing.
The charge stems from the alleged breach of the person’s existing release conditions. As with all criminal charges, the allegations have not been proven in court.
Gananoque Police are reminding motorists to ensure their vehicles meet required safety standards, including having properly functioning headlights.
