Leeds Thousand Islands Fire Service wrapped up their final Dock to Door Pump Clinic this past Saturday at the Ivy Lea Government Dock. Fire Prevention Officer Doug Richardson told us that these clinics are ways to give advice on how to slow a fire down, until the detachments get to your property.
Richardson said the clinics were also a time to ask any questions you wanted.
Richardson had some great people to thank for the success of the clinics
Clinics were also held on Juniper Island and Troughton Island. Over 75 residents attended the clinic this summer. The Dock-to-Door program provides an important opportunity for firefighters to connect directly with residents in the communities they serve. With approximately 5,000 residential properties throughout the Township, including numerous seasonal homes and cottages, fire prevention and emergency preparedness are particularly important in waterfront communities.
