Leeds and the Thousand Islands Fire Services has been taking part in specialized Water Shuttle Accreditation training over the past several weeks.
The training helps firefighters prepare to provide a continuous water supply at fires in rural areas where municipal hydrants are not available.
Tanker trucks are used to transport water to many rural homes, farms, cottages and businesses across the Township. The accreditation process tests firefighters, equipment and operations to make sure thousands of litres of water can be moved quickly and efficiently to an emergency scene.
Residents may have noticed tanker trucks on local roads as crews take part in the training.
The Fire Services says the exercises are one of the many ways firefighters prepare to serve and protect the community.
The department is also thanking its dedicated members for the many hours they spend training and developing their skills
