The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO) is preparing to introduce a new three-year spiritual theme focused on listening, inclusion and compassion.
At its Aug. 25 meeting, the board heard about the 2026-2029 theme, “A Listening Presence Changes Hearts,” presented by Department of Religion and Family Life Education consultants Kate Veinotte and Lorrie Darling.
Inspired by Pope Francis’ synodal process and the scripture “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening,” the theme will focus on Pause, Love and Connect. The first year will encourage prayer, reflection and stronger relationships.
Trustees also received an update on the 2026 Summer Learning Program. From June 29 to July 17, 106 students in Grades 1 to 6 attended programs at four schools.
The program also included skilled trades camps, transition programming and secondary e-learning. There were 1,521 secondary registrations, with 73 courses offered and a 96 per cent success rate.
