The 2026 regular season is now complete at the Can Am Speedway in Lafargeville New York. Victory lane may have seen a few new faces this past Friday night but the track championships belonged to many of the drivers who had been there before.
Billy Dunn claimed his 8th overall Modified track title at Can Am and his second straight in the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modified division. The Watertown New York Driver crossed the line in third to claim the title over Tim Fuller. Shaun Shaw took the lead late to record his 2nd win of the year.
Gavin Eisele claimed a 4th place finish to score his second straight Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman title, after a close battle with Jessica Power and Tyler Stevenson. The 20 lap feature belonged to Logan Brown who dominated the event, to finally score his first career win after 7 wins in the Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman.
Josh Verne Jr. locked up his fifth straight Panther Frameworx Crate Sprint Car title going into the final points night and was looking to have a solid night and maybe add to his win total. On this night it would belong to a familiar face who had not been to victory lane at Can Am since 2001. Kyle Wilson took the lead at the drop of the green flag and led all 20 laps last Friday for his first win in the division, holding off Andrew Hennessy.
Jock Symonds absolutely dominated the Sundance Leisure Thundercar division in 2026. Symonds would once again take home a dominant win, scoring his 12th win of the season in 14 starts and 5th in a row. Symonds became the 25th driver in track history to win 10 or more races in one division in a single season.
Even though there is no title for the Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman, Hayden Howard was all about winning races this year. The Hammond New York driver held off a late charge by Cayden Graham for his third win of the season and second in a row.
The regular season may be over with but plenty of racing is set to finish off season number 52, with three straight nights of action.
Thursday night is the continuation of the postponed Pabst Shootout from July 1st for the DIRTCar 358 Modified Series. Also in action will be the remaining qualifying races for the DIRTCar Sportsman Series and the second 305/602 Sprint Car Challenge. Those in attendance can bring their wristbands and ticket stubs for free entry. Those who did not make it in July can view the show at the speedway for a $20 admission price. If you purchased the event on Dirt Track Digest TV, a voucher will be issued to continue watching the races live on Thursday evening. Racing starts at 7pm.
Friday night will be first official night for the Showdown in September weekend. The regular scheduled DIRTCar 358 Modified Series race will take center stage along with the annual John Burr Memorial for the DIRTCar Sportsman division. Also on the card will be the first ever Double Header for the Empire Super Sprints. The series will complete their Pabst Shootout feature held over from July, then run a complete show on Friday night with qualifying races and a feature event. Hot laps and Time Trials take place at 6:15 with heat races beginning at 7pm. Racing will be streamed live on Dirt Track Digest TV.
The weekend will be completed with annual R.D. Hutchinson Memorial 67 for the Super DRTCar Series and a big field is expected to be on hand for the event. Also part of the card will be the regularly scheduled DIRTCar Sportsman Series Championship tour race, along with the return of the Northeast Late Model Alliance Series. The racing action begins with Hot Laps and Time Trials at 6:15pm. The green flag will fly once again at 7pm. All the action will be live on Dirtvision.
