The Gananoque Royals are heading into the 2026-27 hockey season with record numbers.
The Gananoque Girls Hockey Association says 185 players are registered this season, marking a 30-percent increase from last year and the highest registration total in the association’s history.
Of those registrations, 167 players are between the ages of four and 17, with the total also including the association’s senior women’s division.
The association says the growth reflects the dedication of its volunteers, players and families, along with the continued success of its Esso program, which introduces more young girls to hockey and encourages the next generation to get involved in the sport.
The Royals say the increase is part of a larger momentum behind female hockey in the community and across Canada.
The association is thanking all of the players and families who registered and helped the organization reach the new milestone as the 2026-27 season gets underway
