Students with the Upper Canada District School Board are showing continued improvement in EQAO results, with gains reported for a third consecutive year.
The board says scores increased in reading, writing and math among Grade 3, Grade 6 and Grade 9 students, as well as results on the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test.
Grade 3 students recorded the largest gains. Math achievement rose seven percentage points to 69 per cent, while writing increased seven points to 71 per cent. Reading improved six points to 77 per cent.
The UCDSB says Grade 3 results were above the provincial average in all three assessed areas.
The board says the improvements are linked to increased classroom support, a focus on curriculum expectations and the use of evidence-based instruction.
Officials say work will continue to strengthen reading, writing and math instruction and provide additional classroom resources to improve student outcomes.
