The Gananoque Fire Service is thanking residents for their participation in a recent door-to-door smoke and carbon monoxide alarm outreach program conducted in the Booth Street, Ann Street, Alberta Street and Queen Street areas.
In a letter issued September 28, Fire Chief Andrew Dickson said firefighters reported a positive experience during the visits and found that the vast majority of homes inspected were fully compliant with Ontario regulations governing the placement and operation of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
The fire service also expressed appreciation for the cooperation and hospitality shown by residents throughout the initiative. Officials say maintaining working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms is a key part of keeping homes and the community safe.
Residents with questions about home fire safety or alarm compliance are encouraged to contact Deputy Fire Chief Andrew Kent or Community Safety Officer Dillon Champagne through the Town of Gananoque.
