Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for our listening area, warning of potentially heavy rainfall and thunderstorms beginning tonight and continuing through Tuesday.
Local rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 millimetres are possible as a moisture-laden low-pressure system moves into the region.
Showers and the risk of thunderstorms are expected to develop overnight, with the potential for severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall increasing through Tuesday.
The rain and thunderstorm risk is expected to move out of the area from west to east Tuesday afternoon or early evening.
The rainfall could lead to pooling water on roads and in low-lying areas.
Motorists are reminded not to drive through flooded roadways, and residents should avoid low-lying areas where water may accumulate.
Conditions are expected to improve as the system moves eastward.
