An inmate at Joyceville Institution in Kingston has died while in the custody of the Correctional Service of Canada.
The CSC says 62-year-old Gojko Spanovic died on October 11th, 2026, from apparent natural causes.
Spanovic had been serving a sentence of nine years and eight months since August 19th of this year.
The Correctional Service of Canada confirms his next of kin have been notified.
In keeping with its policies, police and the coroner were also notified of the death.
The CSC says, as it does in all cases involving an inmate death, it will review the circumstances surrounding Spanovic’s passing.
