United Way Leeds and Grenville is looking to bring more young people into community leadership, with an initiative that recognizes volunteerism may be changing rather than disappearing.
GenNext aims to connect adults in their 20s and 30s with meaningful ways to support their communities and build leadership skills.
With more on GenNext, here’s Melissa Hindman, director of resource development.
Through her work and connections with the Brockville Young Professional Network, Hindman said she often hears that young people are not involved in their communities.
Instead, she believes volunteerism has changed.
GenNext offers opportunities for young adults to build skills in project management, communications and event planning while supporting local causes.
The initiative focuses on strengthening communities and supporting issues such as children and youth programs, mental health, homelessness and food security.
