Not even temperatures into the mid thirties this past Saturday in the Town of Gananoque were stopping our local fire service from getting the skills they need to be successful. Fire Chief Steve Tiernan and his recruits were put through a series of drills at their training centre in Town. Tiernan said the training session that began at 9am was successful.
Tiernan talks about the different drills.
Not just anyone can do this kind of work.
There was plenty of experience on hand as Tiernan was join by Deputy Fire Chief Darren Neff from West Grey Fire Department in Durham. The volunteer crew were put through five different drills during the day from forcible entry, to understanding fire behaviour.
