Brett Gibson: Queen’s Golden Gaels Hockey Coach
After retiring from playing hockey as a professional Gananoque native Brett Gibson got his start in coaching at the Ontario level. One of his mentors gave him a phone call and asked Brett to come on board as an assistant coach. Gibson admits that it was pretty much trial by fire and learned as he went along.
Gibson says one of the most enjoyable things he gets out of coaching is the growth out of his players whether it be teams here in Gananoque, or his current team, the Queens Golden Gaels.
One of Gibson’s major highlights of his career was in 2018 when he was selected to coach the under 18 World Hockey Championships in Sweden in April of that year. His team ended up 5th overall in the international tournament. He continues to help maintain a successful business in Gananoque as well as trying to coach the Queen’s Golden Gaels to a season long championship.
