A significant winter storm is expected to hit the region later this week and into the holiday weekend and Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Gananoque and the surrounding area. Rain or snow is expected late Thursday before changing to rain in some areas as early as Friday. A drop in the temperature could lead to flash freezing. Strong winds are also expected and snow could be heavy at times. Travel plans may need to be adjusted due to the weather.
