The 1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber of Commerce has a mission statement. They advocate and represent business interests and issues affecting the community. They provide the environment to help members prosper and succeed through a proactive working partnership with all levels of government & community organizations.
Jan Murray is the Executive Director of the Chamber, which covers Gananoque, Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands, including the villages of Seeleys Bay, Lyndhurst, Lansdowne, Rockport and Ivy Lea.
Murray says local business is alive and well in the region with many businesses reporting their numbers are better than they had been prior to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
She adds that with the winter season upon us, it is an important reminder to keep shopping and supporting locally. Some businesses although slow in the winter, still need to keep the doors open and be ready to go full speed every summer.
Without local support, Murray says it could be a rough start to next year for some businesses for staffing and finances as well. Murray stresses to keep supporting local, all year.
