Animal shelters see it every year – an influx of rabbits coming to the door in the weeks following Easter.
Cathie Hoskin, who works in animal welfare, who says she sees the value they can bring to a family – but those families must also be prepared for things like wires that will be chewed and messes that will be made.
Hoskin is asking families to reconsider having a rabbit waiting as a special easter “gift” this year.
The bedding, the cage, the food, and the time are also big factors to consider with this animal that can live up to 12 years.
