The Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League Championship is in Gananoque for the very first time. The team won the title in game 5 of the series 4-2 over the North Dundas Rockets on April 4th. Islanders GM Tom Dickson says his team was very confident.
There were some nerves but everyone held it together.
Dickson said his team told him, they do this for the love of the game.
Dickson had plenty of people to thank as well
Dickson added it was the first time in over a decade since a championship had been won by Gananoque dating back to the Junior days. The team will be planning a community celebration for the league title and plans will be in place for that to happen in the coming weeks.
