Due to a higher than usual number of overdoses on April 26th in Brockville, the Leeds Grenville Lanark Health Unit is cautioning everyone regarding the ongoing dangers of the toxic drug supply in the region.
The health unit recommend having Naloxone on hand and a reminder the Good Samaritan Act provides legal protection against simple drug possession.
All overdoses are considered a medical emergency and anyone who witnesses an overdose, is asked to call 9-1-1 right away.
The risk of overdose can be reduced by following safer use practices;
– Call 911 in the event of an overdose
– Carry a naloxone kit
– Avoid mixing substances
– Use a small test dose first
– Do not use alone
