Fire Services in the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands report a busy stretch, responding to 30 emergency incidents over the past two weeks. Calls included three brush fires—two on islands—one structure fire, five medical calls, four motor vehicle collisions, three water rescues on the river, and eight burn complaints. Crews also handled reports of smoke, activated alarms, and public hazards.
The Township reminds residents to be mindful when they see emergency vehicles. Drivers are asked to slow down and move to the right when encountering flashing red or green lights, allowing first responders to safely reach the scene of an emergency.
