Gananoque Mayor John Beddows, using Strong Mayoral Powers, has amended a parking bylaw that would have seen Quebec-plated vehicles wheel-clamped after a parking fine.
When asked for an interview by myFM he respectfully declined to comment, however has provided information regarding the newly amended by law.
The bylaw, which is part of the 27 point Mayoral Directive, now reads under section 8e. “Collection of Parking Fines from out-of-province vehicles – amend parking bylaw to permit clamping of tires of out-of-province vehicles on issuance of a parking ticket. Create new class of parking ticket for clamped vehicles which includes full cost-recovery of clamping and un-clamping the vehicle.”
The document was changed and signed by the Mayor of September 9th.
