The Town of Gananoque is reminding residents and pedestrians that the train umbrella will be removed this morning to make way for planned renovation work on the sluiceway. The umbrella, a familiar landmark in town, will not be going far. It will be stored safely across the street in the Portage Power parking lot while contractors carry out the project.
Town officials note the removal is only temporary and forms part of necessary infrastructure upgrades in the area. The umbrella will be returned to its location once work on the sluiceway is complete. In the meantime, the town is asking residents to be mindful of crews and equipment working in the area and thanks the community for its patience during the project.
