The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, together with the Town of Gananoque and the YMCA of Eastern Ontario, are celebrating the successful completion of Phase 1 of a new child care centre at 400 Stone Street South. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., and the public is invited to attend.
The centre officially opened September 15, welcoming 39 toddlers and preschoolers into newly created licensed child care spaces. The expansion addresses a pressing need for quality child care in the region.
This project is part of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system, supported through the CWELCC Leeds and Grenville Directed Growth Strategy. The strategy aims to create 637 new affordable, licensed child care spaces across Leeds and Grenville by the end of 2026, funded by both federal and provincial governments.
