The Howe Island County Ferry has announced a change to its scheduled maintenance closure. Originally planned for today, the regular maintenance shutdown will now take place on Wednesday, October 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Officials say the schedule adjustment ensures inspectors are available to carry out required vessel-inclining testing, a critical part of maintaining ferry safety and performance. During the maintenance window, ferry service will be temporarily unavailable, and travelers are advised to plan their crossings accordingly.
The ferry remains an essential transportation link for Howe Island residents and visitors, and the operator appreciates the community’s understanding as these necessary inspections and maintenance are completed. Updates will be provided if further schedule changes occur.
Passengers are encouraged to check the ferry website or local notices before travel.
