Correctional Service of Canada staff seized a package containing contraband and unauthorized items at Joyceville Institution on Oct. 27, 2025, the agency said Thursday.
Officials said the items recovered included tobacco, marijuana and two cellphones. The total estimated institutional value of the seizure is $188,500.
CSC said it has stepped up measures to prevent contraband from entering federal institutions and works in partnership with police to take action against those who attempt to introduce prohibited items.
The agency also noted it has established a telephone tip line for all federal institutions to collect information about activities that could threaten the safety and security of visitors, inmates and staff, including drug use or trafficking. No further details were released.
