Frontenac County Council has elected Bill Saunders, Deputy Mayor of the Township of Frontenac Islands, as the 2026 County Warden. Saunders previously served as Deputy Warden in 2025 and is currently active with the Leeds County OPP Detachment Board, as well as the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Food Policy Council.
He brings extensive leadership experience, having served as CEO of the Belleville and District Chamber of Commerce and Executive Director of Volunteer and Information Quinte. As Warden, Saunders will act as the County’s Chief Executive Officer, preside over council meetings, provide guidance to council, and represent the county at official functions.
Also elected was Ron Vandewal, Mayor of South Frontenac Township, as Deputy Warden for 2026. Vandewal previously served as County Warden in 2017, 2021, and 2023. Frontenac County Council comprises eight members representing the four townships, each holding a vote on council decisions.
