Businesses and organizations across Leeds Grenville continue to benefit from the Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) program, which helps employers access skilled labour while providing newcomers with pathways to permanent residency. Health care and human resources remain among the top sectors utilizing the initiative.
Brockville General Hospital and Maple View Lodge, soon to be renamed the G. Tackaberry and Family Home, are leading participants, each securing nominations for nine staff positions. This has provided both institutions with valued employees and supported regional economic growth. The program not only helps address workforce shortages but also strengthens the local economy by attracting and retaining skilled workers in the community.
“Working with the Counties Economic Development Department on incorporating the REDI Pilot Project into recruitment and retention at Maple View Lodge has been incredibly rewarding for both our community and our long-term care home. Knowing that we are helping expand economic immigration into regional communities across Ontario, including Brockville and Athens, has impacted so many lives and created significant economic benefits for the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. It has been challenging yet inspiring at the same time. I am grateful to have been part of this pilot project,” said Jamie Conner, Human Resources Project Manager.
The REDI Pilot Program remains active, and the employer portal is open for new expressions of interest. Businesses and organizations interested in hiring through the initiative are encouraged to contact the United Counties Economic Development Department for guidance and to explore how the program can support recruitment and retention efforts. The program continues to play a key role in building sustainable employment solutions in Leeds Grenville.
