A second group of Firefighters with Leeds 1000 Islands Fire Service faced extreme conditions during training this past Saturday, with a high of -19°C and wind chills making it feel closer to -30°C. Gusts reaching 30 km/h added to the challenge, but the second group of firefighters pushed through the harsh weather to complete their exercises.
The training emphasized the importance of preparing for emergencies in all conditions. “Emergencies don’t wait for perfect weather, so neither do we,” said officials, highlighting the dedication required to respond effectively in severe cold.
Despite the biting temperatures, the team’s perseverance ensured they practiced essential skills safely and efficiently, reinforcing their readiness to protect the community no matter the weather.
