Ontario is investing more than 6.4 million dollars to upgrade wastewater infrastructure in the Town of Gananoque, as the province looks to support housing, protect the environment and strengthen local services.
The funding was announced by Steve Clark at town hall. Clark tells us what the money will do for the town.
The investment is being delivered through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Health and Safety Water Stream, which was recently expanded to meet rising demand from municipalities across Ontario.
Clark commended town staff for working so hard to secure the funding.
Mayor John Beddows said the funding will help reduce pressure on local ratepayers, support housing development and protect the natural environment.
The province says the Gananoque project is part of a broader, multi-billion-dollar capital plan to modernize aging infrastructure, improve health and create jobs, while helping communities prepare for growth and future extreme weather events.
