Howe Island residents and visitors are advised of ongoing work to rehabilitate the ferry docks at both the Mainland and Frontenac Islands Township sides.
The project, awarded to Clearwater Structures Inc. under Contract 2022-4030 on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation Ontario, began on February 12, 2026, and is scheduled for completion by April 30, 2026.
During construction, the three-car township ferry will continue operating, but the island-side parking lot will remain closed to keep the dry hydrant, boat launch, and private laneways clear of equipment and construction activity.
Mainland detour routes are clearly marked for drivers. Temporary overnight closures are planned from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on February 24–25, February 25–26, and February 26–27.
Residents and visitors are urged to plan travel accordingly and follow posted signage to ensure safety during the rehabilitation work.
