Residents of Gananoque are advised that the Gananoque Fire Department will be conducting ice and water rescue training on Saturday, February 28, at the Gananoque Municipal Marina.
During the exercise, firefighters will be seen on the ice wearing cold-water rescue suits and operating specialized rescue equipment. The training is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to ensure crews are prepared to respond safely and effectively to winter emergencies on the town’s waterways.
Officials stress that this is a scheduled training exercise and there is no cause for concern. Residents are encouraged to observe safely from a distance and support the crews as they practice critical lifesaving skills.
Training exercises like this are essential for maintaining high standards of emergency response, keeping both firefighters and the public safe during cold-water and ice-related incidents throughout the winter season.
