The Upper Canada District School Board has launched a new interactive EQAO Challenge Quest for Grade 4 students called Night at the Museum.
The program builds on earlier challenges, including Grade 3’s Dino Dig Disaster and Grade 6’s AI Gone Rogue. The board is now expanding the series to Grades 1, 2, 4 and 5, with a Grade 7 version in development.
In the new challenge, students act as junior detectives. They work to restore a museum after artifacts go missing and a mysterious key appears. Inspired by escape rooms, the activity uses videos and curriculum-linked math and literacy questions.
Students move through exhibits featuring Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Inuit, West African and Inca displays. They answer nine EQAO-style questions that test math, reading and writing skills.
Teachers say students are engaged and excited, while building confidence and problem-solving skills in class.
