The Leeds 1000 Islands Fire Service has taken delivery of two new frontline emergency vehicles to strengthen fire protection and response capabilities across the township.
A new mini rescue unit will be placed into service at Station 4, replacing both a pickup truck and an older rescue vehicle that had served the department for many years.
The department has also received a new pumper truck that will be stationed at Station 3. The new apparatus replaces a pumper that had reached the end of its operational service life.
Fire officials say the additions will improve operational readiness and ensure firefighters have modern, reliable equipment when responding to emergencies.
The fire service thanked MAXIMETAL, Commercial Emergency Equipment Co. and Alex Cafovski for their assistance in bringing the new vehicles into service.
Officials also expressed appreciation to township council and residents for their continued support of local fire protection services.
