Sadie, a young hockey player for the Gananoque Royals, recently brought joy to residents at Carveth Care Centre in Gananoque through a thoughtful act of generosity.
The idea began during a visit to her aunt Kelsey, who works in the centre’s Activation Department, where Sadie met a resident with a collection of rubber ducks and learned how much she loved them.
Motivated to make a difference, Sadie saved money from goals scored in hockey—paid by her uncle Nate—and sold bracelets, raising $120.
Using the funds, she purchased a rubber duck for every resident. Centre staff expressed their gratitude, saying the residents have been enjoying the ducks since delivery and praising Sadie for her kindness and thoughtfulness.
