Strong winds have prompted travel restrictions on the Thousand Islands Bridge, affecting both the Canadian and American spans.
The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority implemented the measures early this morning, limiting high-profile vehicles under 60,000 pounds, including recreational vehicles, buses, and empty enclosed trailers.
Officials say the restrictions are necessary to reduce the risk of accidents caused by powerful crosswinds in the exposed bridge area.
Drivers of affected vehicles are advised to delay travel and monitor conditions before attempting to cross.
The restrictions will remain in place until wind speeds decrease and it is safe to resume normal traffic operations.
