With the next municipal election set for October 26, 2026, residents across Leeds and Grenville are being encouraged to consider running for council. The nomination period opens May 1 at 9:00 a.m. and closes August 21 at 2:00 p.m.
To help prospective candidates prepare, municipalities within the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville are hosting “So You Want to Run for Council” information sessions. One session will take place at the Lansdowne Community Centre on May 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The sessions are open to anyone interested in becoming a candidate and will provide insight into the election process, responsibilities of council members, and what to expect when running for office.
