Residents in the Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands are being encouraged to recognize outstanding seniors in their community, as nominations remain open for the Ontario Senior of the Year Award until April 10, 2026.
The award honours one individual aged 65 or older who has made meaningful contributions to improving quality of life through areas such as community service, volunteering, arts, education, environment, fitness, or humanitarian efforts.
Community members can submit nominations online or by completing a paper form available at the Township office or local libraries. All submissions received by the deadline will be reviewed, with one nominee selected for submission to the provincial award portal by April 30.
The chosen recipient will be formally recognized during Seniors Month in June, celebrating their dedication and positive impact on the community.
