The Howe Island County-operated ferry docks rehabilitation project is ongoing, and residents should expect another temporary service disruption. The next full closure is scheduled from Monday, March 30 at 10:00 p.m. until Thursday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m., with additional 64-hour closures planned from April 6–9 and April 13–16.
The work involves rehabilitating the ferry docks on both the island and mainland sides to improve safety and reliability. During full closures, a mainland detour route will be available, clearly marked with signage. The three-car ferry will continue to operate in extended service to allow limited passage on and off the island.
Island-side parking will remain closed for the duration of the project to keep construction areas, private laneways, and the boat launch accessible and unobstructed. Project completion is scheduled for April 30, 2026, with schedules subject to change for weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Residents are thanked for their patience and understanding during the upgrades.
