The Township of Leeds and Thousand Islands has provided updated information on the Howe Islander ferry dock rehabilitation project. The next full closure is scheduled today at 10 p.m. to Thursday, April 9 at 2 p.m. Previously planned closures in mid-April have been postponed to mid-May, with exact dates to be confirmed.
Contractors have set aside 64 hours for each full closure to account for weather or unforeseen delays. Completion of the project, initially planned for late April, is now expected by mid-June.
During closures, the three-car township ferry will remain in extended operation to maintain access to and from the island. Island-side parking will remain closed to ensure safe construction operations. A mainland detour route is clearly signed for drivers.
